All River Griese Trout and Salmon Anglers Association waters, particularly those within the grounds of Kilkea Castle require our respect, co-operation and support.

As you know we engage with local groups including farmers, landowners and local business in a spirit of cooperation for the mutual benefit of all river users.

To this end the Association has agreed with Kilkea Castle Hotel and Golf Club that preference and the opportunity to play through without distraction shall be given to golfers where the river intersects or comes into play with the golf course.

In particular – for your own safety! – you should not fish along the following tees, fairways and greens which are either adjacent to or cross the river (marked with signage on the river and on the map as red boxes)

  • Holes 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 16 & 17

P9175662These areas are clearly marked by signage along the river and must be strictly adhered to when fishing on the river.  Please also refer to the map where we have marked up the restricted areas.  Kilkea Castle have generously allowed us to use the Golf Club car park and the lower Hotel car park.  Please do not park on the public roads on or near the bridges at either end of the grounds.

P9175686Fishing is fly only and predominately catch and release.  A maximum of 2 fish not less than 9 inches in length can be taken in any day.  You must be able to produce your membership card if requested.

If additional clarification is needed you can contact any of the people below – including the Head Groundsman of Kilkea Castle.  Before commencing fishing please check with the Head Groundsman via SMS for any changes to the restrictions and to let him know that you will be along the river.

Please note that the following days/times are peak times at the golf course:

  • Saturday 10 am to 6 pm
  • Sunday 10 am to 6 pm

Please remember to exercise caution on the river and be vigilant during times you are fishing the river where it comes into play with the golf course.
